Run your copy through three tests: can I see it, can I prove it, could only you say it

Tools:
Claude, ChatGPT
Who it's for

Founders writing positioning, landing pages, bios and ads full of vague claims

What they report

No metric reported. Harry Dry's three copywriting tests (Marketing Examples) are: Can I visualize it? Can I falsify it? Can nobody else say it? The prompt applies them line by line.

Example

Dry's classic examples: 'Get fit again' becomes 'Couch to 5K.' '32GB storage' becomes '1,000 songs in your pocket.'

How to do it

  1. Paste the copy and a list of true, specific facts about your business.
  2. Have the model score each line on the three tests.
  3. Rewrite only the lines that fail, using your facts.
  4. Cut lines that can't be made specific.

The prompt

Fill in the [brackets]
Copy prompt

Here is my copy: [paste] Here are true, specific facts I can use (numbers, names, places, results, how it works): [paste] Go line by line. For each line, answer: 1. Can I visualize it? (yes/no) 2. Can I falsify it? Is it a specific claim someone could check? (yes/no) 3. Can nobody else say it? Could a competitor paste this on their site? (yes/no) For every line that fails any test, rewrite it using only my facts. If no fact fits, recommend cutting it. Output a table: original, tests failed, rewrite.
